UCF is inviting applications to fill the position of CONSERVATION TECHNOLOGY OFFICER (1 vacancy).
The Uganda Conservation Foundation is a UK charity and Ugandan non-profit, registered locally as Uganda Conservation (U) Ltd. UCF’s mission is to support in safeguarding Uganda’s natural heritage and regional development by implementing practical conservation and regional development programmes, influencing policy-makers and engaging the public. We work closely with the Uganda Wildlife Authority, and have projects in and around the protected areas in the country.
Location: Kampala, Uganda
Duration: 1 Year, with possibility of renewal
Responsibilities:
We are seeking a passionate and skilled Conservation Technology Officer to join our team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in implementing and managing conservation technologies, including EarthRanger, to support wildlife monitoring and protection activities in Uganda’s national parks. Key responsibilities include:
- Technology Support: Assist with the deployment and day-to-day operation of EarthRanger and other conservation technologies in national parks.
- Data Collection and Analysis: Support the collection, management, and analysis of data to aid in conservation efforts.
- Training Assistance: Help in training park rangers and staff on using and maintaining conservation technologies.
- Collaborative Involvement: Participate in collaborative projects with local and international partners to enhance conservation initiatives.
- Reporting and Documentation: Contribute to the preparation of reports and maintain documentation related to technology use and conservation activities.
- Technical Assistance: Provide support in troubleshooting and ensuring the smooth functioning of conservation technology tools.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Conservation Biology, Environmental Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Experience: At least 3 years of experience in conservation technology, wildlife monitoring, or a related area.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in using and managing EarthRanger or similar conservation technology platforms.
- Analytical Skills: Strong data analysis skills and experience with GIS and other data management tools.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Training Skills: Experience in training and capacity building for field staff.
- Team Player: Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

- Familiarity with the conservation landscape in Uganda.
