The collaring operation in Kidepo Valley National Park is now fully underway and we’ve successfully collared seven elephants.
From sunrise equipment checks and pre-deployment team briefings to multiple aerial operations, today has been another showcase of precision, coordination, teamwork and commitment. An integrated team of professionals working seamlessly across land and air is driving the operation forward.
Uganda Wildlife Authority leadership is fully engaged, with KVCA Chief Warden Richard Muhabwe and Senior Veterinary Officer Dr. Margaret Driciru providing expert oversight and strategic direction. Their presence reinforces the national importance of this effort, not just for wildlife protection, but for the safety and wellbeing of communities living around the park.
This is a regional effort made possible through collaboration: Uganda Wildlife Authority and Kenya Wildlife Service, supported by Uganda Conservation, Northern Rangelands Trust, Save the Elephants, WildLandscapes International, Wildlife Research & Training Institute Kenya, and our outstanding air teams from Tropic Air Kenya and Mara Elephant Project.
With generous funding from the European Union in Uganda through the NaturAfrica programme, this is conservation at scale, and in action. The energy is high, the teams are in sync and the mission is progressing as planned.
